Ring of Honor Wrestling sent out the following:
JUSHIN ‘THUNDER’ LIGER READY FOR FINAL BATTLE
Final Battle is Ring of Honor’s biggest annual event, so it’s only fitting that a legendary star such as Jushin “Thunder” Liger be a part of it.Liger, perhaps the most famous Japanese wrestler of all time, will be in action on Dec. 2nd at The Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City against an opponent to be determined.
Liger, who has competed in four decades and is arguably the most influential and innovative junior heavyweight in the history of the sport, notched some impressive victories in ROH in 2016, and he’d like nothing more than to end the year on a winning note.
At the Global Wars pay-per-view on May 8th in Chicago, Liger teamed with Cheeseburger to upset The Addiction (Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels) the night before Kazarian and Daniels won the ROH World Tag Team Title. Six days later, the team of Liger and Jay and Mark Briscoe defeated Bullet Club’s Hangman Page and The Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa) in a six-man tag match in New York City.
Liger has won New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title a record 11 times and been a co-holder of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Title on six occasions with six different partners. He also has captured championships in Mexico and the U.S., including the WCW Light Heavyweight Championship, which he won from Brian Pillman in 1991.
Liger made his much-anticipated ROH debut in 2004 when he headlined two “Weekend of Thunder” shows named in his honor. Liger defeated Bryan Danielson the first night, and then teamed with Samoa Joe to defeat Danielson and Low Ki the following night.
