In an update on Cody Rhodes’ next career move, the former WWE superstar is reported to be joining BOTH Ring of Honor Wrestling and TNA Wresting, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who notes that he spoke with Rhodes over the weekend at Pro Wrestling Guerilla’s “Battle Of Los Angeles 2016” event.
The report notes that Rhodes’ deal will be different than most other wrestlers in the business, as he will not be under contract to both promotions, as usually they are not allowed to work with both TNA and ROH at the same time, as TNA wrestlers are allowed to work the independent scene, but can’t work with a company that have a TV deal, unless the match is a non-televised match.
The expectation is that Cody will be working against Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis in TNA when he makes his debut for the company, with his wife Brandi (former WWE ring announcer Eden Stiles) expected to be involved in the feud in some form also. Rhodes will not be permitted to use the Rhodes name for both promotions, according to the report, as he does not have the rights to the “Cody Rhodes” name for use on television, despite being permitted to use it on the independent scene.
