Aristóteles Radamés Coccó Flores also known as Masakre passed away yesterday afternoon at 4:30 PM EST in Charlotte, North Carolina where he had been living the past few years due to complications from a case of spinal cancer. Masakre was one of the bigger stars in lucha libre in the late 80’s to early 90’s while being a member of Los Infernales with Satanico & MS-1 and Los Intocables with Pierroth & Jaque Mate with the feud between the Infernales & Intocables being one of the most memorable of the early 90’s in CMLL.
MS-1 would leave CMLL for AAA during the promotional war and he would take on some new gimmicks such as Dracula, El Yeti, & the original Coco Rosa. AK-47 was the first to publically confirm his death last night at Arena Naucalpan due to his connections with the family but word had gotten out in the last few days that he was terminally ill.
Masakre debuted on 5/1/83 at Arena Pista Revolucion in Mexico City after being trained for 5 years by legends like Raul Reyes and Rafael Salamanca who became the head trainer of Arena Mexico in the late 80’s and early 90’s teaming up with Hijo del Salvaje as they went up against Doberman & Olimpico Flores.
Masakre didn’t immediately love lucha libre as he only joined the profession as a way of staying in shape while he worked at his other job as being a firefighter but the style grew on him and he would become infatuated with it making it his main career choice where he would change his gimmick to being MS-2 joining his lucha soulmate MS-1 for a while until MS-1 became a founding member of Los Infernales.
Masakre would float along rising up the cards until he had his first big mask match which he would lose to The KISS at Arena Mexico on 8/29/86 which was a blessing in disguise for him because he was one of those guys who had great looks especially for a rudo and a mask was actually hindering him.
In October of 1986, Pirata Morgan would leave Los Infernales and MS-1 insisted his friend Masakre take his place and a new version of the legendary trio was born with Masakre & MS-1 becoming a dominant tag team on their own as they defeated Cien Caras & Mascara Ano Dos Mil on 3/26/87 at Arena Isabel de Cuernavaca to win the Mexican National Tag Titles and held them for over a year before dropping them to Angel Azteca & Atlantis on 4/8/88 at Arena Mexico after making nine successful defenses.
It wasn’t too long after this loss that they had a falling out and it built up to a big hair match on 6/17/88 with Masakre getting his head shaved thanks to MS-1 but he would rebound to take the hairs of Herodes & Mike Stone before reuniting with MS-1 a couple of years later in 1990 building up to both men losing their hair to El Faraon & Ringo Mendoza on 9/7/90 at Arena Mexico.
The next year would see the reformation of the Infernales with Satanico, MS-1, & Pirata Morgan and the formation of Los Intocables with Pierroth, Jaque Mate, & Masakre which would see some legendary trios matches and along with some memorable hair matches involving Masakre with probably the biggest win of his career coming on 12/15/91 at Arena Mexico where he would take his soulmate MS-1’s hair but a form of payback would come 2 months later on 2/28/92 at Arena Mexico with Pirata Morgan taking Masakre’s hair.
Los Intocables had the look of gangsters and was one of the most popular rudo trios of the era which helped make the Infernales feud great as the fans were invested in seeing both teams just beat the hell out of each other. Los Intocables would become the 2nd ever CMLL Trios Titles holders after defeating Los Infernales on 3/22/92 at Arena Mexico and they would hold those titles for 6 months where they would lose them back to the Infernales on 9/20/92 at Arena Mexico.
It wasn’t too long after this match that the Intocables would go their own ways and Masakre would actually become the booker in EMLL from late 1993 to early 1994 before he would make his trek to AAA working as Dracula, El Yeti, & the original Coco Rosa before retiring from the business all together and basically falling off the face of the earth until his death.
