WWE Monday Night RAW superstar, Evan Bourne, who had been serving a 60 day suspension for his second violation of the WWE Wellness Policy is now officially cleared to return to in-ring action when the company decide on that matter.
As we noted exclusively on the website back on January 18th, 2012, Bourne tested positive for the usage of “spice”, a synthetic marijuana substance, after tests came back and the decision was made at the WWE Monday Night RAW live event in Oakland, California to take the WWE Tag Team Championships off himself and Kofi Kingston and put them Epico and Primo, due to the fact that Evan Bourne would be inactive until March 17th, after being suspended for 60 days.
Previously, marijuana smokers were issued with a $2,500 fine from the company, however in a change to the policy, anyone smoking synthetic marijuana will immediately be issued with a 30 day suspension, as the company try and cut out the use. The fact that Bourne failed twice in quick succession raised a few eyebrows within the company. If Bourne was to fail the Wellness Policy testing for a third time, his WWE contract would be terminated and he would not be permitted to return to the company for at least one full year as stated in the company’s noting regarding that issue.
“A WWE Talent who is terminated by the WWE for a third violation will be prohibited from returning to the WWE for at least one year. Before a possible return, the WWE Talent must test negative for all prohibited substances under the Policy during a pre-contract screening. If they pass the pre-contract screening and are approved to return, the WWE Talent must undergo mandatory unannounced testing for at least one year after the execution of the new contract. The WWE Talent will return with two strikes on his/her record.”
Note from Wayne: There has been talk over the past couple of days of having Bourne be a member of Team Teddy at WrestleMania 28, however those I have spoken to believe that the spot may actually go to a returning Rey Mysterio at the pay-per-view. It will be interesting to see if that’s the case or if both end up as members of the team.
