According to a report from ThisIsStaffordshire.co.uk, 30-year-old professional wrestler Ghent Wakefield is threatening to sue the NHS after he ruptured both biceps in a match four months after being offered a WWE contract and that staff at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire had advised him to rest as his arms would heal nartually. The report notes that months after, Ghent was told by a private doctor that he should undergo surgery within weeks and now fears that the surgery delay could mean that he will never fully regain the strength in his arms, ruling out his potential deal with the WWE.
Speaking to the website, Ghent stated that he could not believe it when he was offered a contract with the WWE and that they were going to pay him to fly over to Florida and train in their developmental territory, while spending his free time on the beach and compared signing with the WWE to signing with Manchester United, noting that the guys in the WWE on top are paid millions and it will be sickening if his dream has been shattered. Ghent added that he was told to rest and gradually get back into training following his injury, because he could not have surgery, but then in November he had a physical test with the WWE and all parties were shocked by his injury and noted that the WWE told him that if he’d had the surgery within 3 weeks, he would be 100% guaranteed to make a full recovery.
Ghent has taken his case to solicitors as he waits until the end of the year to see if he recovers. The full report is available at this link.
