The show opened up with the Hell in a Cell structure hanging over the ring as The Authority’s music hit and Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Triple H and Kane came to the ring. HHH welcomed the fans to WWE RAW and said that he’s sure tonight will be an epic night and a night that The Authority can be proud of and that Rollins, Orton & Kane will compete in a 3-on-2 Handicap Street Fight later in the evening against John Cena and Dean Ambrose and should Ambrose and Cena make it through tonight, hell is literally hanging over their heads and this Sunday, Ambrose and Cena will go straight to hell and described it as the most ominous and destructive structure ever designed in the WWE and that unspeakable things will happen in the Cell this Sunday and that fans can see it live on the WWE Network for just $9.99. HHH said that he’s been inside the Cell and it changes your life and it is not the kind of match that you win, it’s the kind of match that you survive and that the cell will put an end to two of the company’s most heated rivalries as John Cena takes on Randy Orton and Dean Ambrose takes on Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins. Rollins said that he likes the moniker and was thinking of a new nickname, “The Undisputed Future of the WWE” Seth Rollins and said that the keyword there is future, something that Dean Ambrose will no longer have after he wins the main event this Sunday. Orton got on the mic and said that the true main event will involve a couple of superstars that have been around the WWE longer than a hot cup of coffee and said that he will beat Cena at Hell in a Cell on Sunday and end their rivalry once and for all. HHH said that they’re both right, they’re both in the main event on Sunday as it is a double main event and while the whole world wants to see Rollins destroy Ambrose in the Hell in a Cell match, what he’s about to say will make Orton vs. Cena mean more as Orton’s match won’t just be about ending a rivalry, but it will be about opportunity and that the winner of that match will receive an opportunity against the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. Orton said that he’ll make HHH so proud and unlike the Kansas City Royals that haven’t won anything in 29 years, he’ll make HHH proud as he’ll beat John Cena and then Brock Lesnar. HHH said that he knows Orton will make him proud, as well as Rollins and Kane and all of them will make him proud in the main event tonight and on Sunday at Hell in a Cell and said that The Authority always wins because that is what’s best for business.

HHH said that he doesn’t doubt it for a second and it is a long time coming and said that it was all Seth Rollins’ idea, to which Orton can’t believe as HHH said that Rollins was looking out for Orton, who said that he will go find Rollins and thank him personally and then left the office.

Orton said that he doesn’t want Rollins on his team before telling him to stay out of his business, which Rollins laughed off before telling Orton to take it easy and that on Sunday he has a golden opportunity to beat John Cena and end their rivalry for good and if by some miracle and it would be a miracle if Orton can go on and beat Brock Lesnar to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion, from there, the future takes care of itself and held up the briefcase. Orton laughed it off and said that the future will take care of itself.

Randy Orton came to the ring and said that the winner of his match against John Cena will get a future match against Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but that on Sunday, he’ll be inside the most demonic structure the WWE has ever seen and it isn’t the first time they’ve faced each other in a Hell in a Cell match, so they both know how brutal it can be and time really flies, as it seems like yesterday it was 2002 and himself and Cena were making their debuts, himself as third-generation royalty and Cena as some punk kid who thought that he could rap. Orton said that himself and Cena went on to be the top superstars of their generation and that it was Hogan/Piper, Michaels/Hart/, Austin/Rock and now Cena/Orton and from the bottom of his heart, he does respect Cena, but at the end of the day, Cena is still the jacked-up punk kid from Boston who has no business being in the same ring as himself as he’s better than him and that Cena can take his hustle, loyalty and respect and shove it up his a**. Orton said that the last time they fought on a pay-per-view was at the Royal Rumble and he beat him and said that on Sunday, he will beat Cena and savor every second of it and then go on to face Lesnar. Cena’s music hit and he came to the ring and told Orton to shut up and said that everyone knows that Orton is gifted and a future Hall of Famer, but that every time he opens his mouth, he proves to the world that he is the biggest dumbass alive and that Orton talks about the old times like some grandpa and said it’s not 2002 and that this is how stupid Orton is, as he comes to Kansas City with all that is going on in the city right now and said that the Royals don’t have a chance and that in 2002, that may have been right as they lost 100 games and that 2002 was the last time Orton was relevant, but it is 2014 and the Royals are in the MLB World Series, they have their eyes squarely on the World Series. Orton said that being in the World Series and winning it are two completely different things. Cena said that Orton is right, just like on Sunday as Orton will be in the Hell in a Cell match, but he doesn’t have a chance of winning it. Cena said that he had his sights set on Seth Rollins because Rollins took the title away from him, but now, his eyes are focused on Orton and if he wins the match on Sunday, he gets a shot at the title again and said that he wants to fight Lesnar and noted that the Cell is destructive and painful and on Sunday, Orton will be locked inside the cell with a man on a mission and this man will see only the face of Brock Lesnar. Paul Heyman interrupted and said that the class of 2002 featured Randy Orton, John Cena and his client Brock Lesnar and that on Sunday, Cena and Orton will enter the Hell in a Cell structure and said that both man will hope to win to define their legacies against each other and that his client has no equal, which means the winner of the match is the ultimate loser, because you have to step into the ring with a beast, not a man and said that he’s always respected Orton and knows how much he wants the WWE Championship, but assures him that he would want no part of the beast. Cena went to leave the ring, however Heyman stopped him and said that while Orton wants no part of his beast, Cena wants both, Cena wants the title AND Brock Lesnar and Heyman doesn’t know what Cena has on the brain, but it’s not sound thinking and if Cena gets past Orton and Cena can’t simply get by, then he has to get into the ring with Brock Lesnar. Cena got fed up and lifted Heyman up for an Attitude Adjustment, but then changed his mind and was met with an RKO from out of nowhere by Randy Orton. Heyman then stood at Orton’s side, however Orton also hit Heyman with an RKO from out of nowhere.
Singles Match
Rusev (w/Lana) defeated Big E. Post-match, Lana got on the mic and said that on Sunday, the cowardly Big Show will prove and fail all of the Americans once again and The Big Show is not an American hero, he deserves to be in a circus as people throw half-eaten food at him and laugh as he wallows in his own excrement. Lana then told the crowd to rise for the true red, white and blue, however the Russian flag never dropped. The Big Show was then shown laughing on the titantron as the American Flag dropped over the ring and Stars & Stripes Forever played, which infuriated Rusev and Lana. Rusev went to rip the flag down, however a “soldier” hit the ring and was stopped by security. Rusev attacked the “soldier” with a thrust kick before leaving the ring as officials checked on him. The Big Show came out during a commercial break and helped the “soldier” to the back. The Big Show said that there are certain lines you don’t cross and that you don’t disrespect an American soldier ever and said that if Rusev wants his attention and wants to be inside his head, what Rusev just did will make him unleash all of the wrath he has inside him, as he’s an American, he’s a giant and at Hell in a Cell, Rusev’s 15 minutes in the WWE are up. The Big Show then said that he’s had enough and is forgetting all about Hell in a Cell and wants to do it now and called Rusev out, however Rusev never answered the challenge, which led to The Big Show heading to the back and to Rusev’s dressing room, however Rusev wasn’t inside.

Dean Ambrose was shown backstage watching “See No Evil 2” when John Cena walked in and asked him what he was doing. Ambrose told Cena that he’s doing research for the match tonight and said that Kane is sick and twisted in the movie, to which Cena asked if that really is his plan. Ambrose said that the two of them are like a comic book movie and that it’s like Superman teaming with Batman and they stand for truth, justice and the American way and that Cena has an American square jaw like Superman, where as he likes to beat up scumbags and has been known to wear a cape, like Batman. Cena said that they have a match tonight and the three people in that match will do what they can to take them out of commission. Ambrose told Cena to relax and even though he’s undefeated in Contract on a Pole matches, handicap street fights are his speciality as he’ll throw punches at anything that moves and if The Authority take them down, they takes as many of them as they can with them, to which Cena said that he likes and said that the Batman thing isn’t a good comparison as he sees Ambrose as more like The Joker, which led to Ambrose to state “Why So Serious?”.

Dean Ambrose came to the ring carrying a duffel bag which he threw into the ring and set up a chair. Ambrose said that for the last 4 months he’s been having dreams and visions about what he’d do if he got his hands on Seth Rollins and that on Sunday, he’ll get his hands on the sellout inside the Hell in a Cell. Ambrose then opened the duffel and pulled out a mannequin version of Seth Rollins and sat it in the chair and then cut a promo. Seth Rollins came to the ring with Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble and congratulated Ambrose for finding an opponent on his intellectual level and that Ambrose will never beat him. Ambrose then threw the mannequin at Rollins. Ambrose stood in the ring with a drill in his hand as Rollins said that he doesn’t sweat Ambrose or the drill in his hand and he doesn’t sweat the Hell in a Cell structure. Mick Foley’s music hit and he made his way to the ring to a huge ovation and said that he came by to visit an old friend and pointed to the Hell in a Cell structure and congratulated both of them for fulfilling their destinies and remembers in December 2012, his kids came back from the Barclays Center raving about The Shield and said that he set the bar of expectations high every night he watches WWE RAW, WWE SmackDown and subscribes to the WWE Network and that The Shield were as dominant a team as he’s seen in this generation, but he visualized the day when they would go head-to-head and in almost every scenario, he envisioned Seth Rollins coming out victorious. Rollins said that he likes to hear that and just when he though Foley had nothing redeeming in his body and has made a mockery of everything he’s done in the ring by dressing as Santa Claus, he’s still got some good ideas in his head. Foley said that Seth missed the keywords in that sentence and that is almost every scenario and said that the Hell in a Cell is no normal scenario and Dean Ambrose has made his intentions very clear, he wants to rip Rollins’ face off and the Hell in a Cell structure gives him the tools to do that and that while Rollins mentioned his Santa Claus shirt, it is the 300th consecutive day of him wearing Christmas-themed attire and he does that because he clings to the last vestiges of his innocence that weren’t stripped away from him 18 years ago and that he’s proud of the scars that night left on him, the tooth that was lodged in his nose is something he is proud of and knows the contribution he made to the business and as a man who has been there and done that, the scars that will haunt you for a lifetime are the emotional wounds that will never heal. Ambrose thanked Foley and said that will all due respect, he lost his innocence in more ways than one a long time ago and isn’t worried about more psychological scars or physical scars and no one understands him in the locker room, but if anyone on this planet may understand him and know that he’s ready for Hell in a Cell, then it’s Foley and that’s a question Rollins will have to ask himself, was it all worth it. Ambrose told Rollins to ask himself that before he’s in a hospital bed on Monday morning. Rollins said that he gets it that both Ambrose and Foley are out of their minds and if they think that’s what it will take to win on Sunday, then they are out of their minds and it will take more than being crazy and he’ll beat Ambrose the same way he’s been doing it and that Foley and Ambrose are below him and it’s not about how crazy you are, but how smart you are. Foley said that a wise man said that wich does not kill you makes you stronger, but that man was never thrown off a Cell and he didn’t realize that this match will define them the same way it did for him and looks at his life pre-Cell and post-Cell and said that the people in Kansas City, Missouri will get the game they’ve been waiting for for 29 years and on Sunday night, when the Cell door slams, they’ll get the match they’ve been waiting for their entire lives and told them to have a nice day. Ambrose and Rollins trash talked in the ring, which led to Ambrose swinging a steel chair at Rollins who managed to escape.
