In an interview with Chris Jericho on his Talk Is Jericho podcast, former WWE Superstar John Morrison, who is now wrestling for Lucha Underground as Johnny Mundo noted that one of the reasons he left the WWE back in November 2011 was that they wanted him to sign for 5 years and felt that while he wouldn’t be able to move the way he did in his prime, if he wanted to do an action movie the way he wanted to do, that the time was then to do it.

Morrison also noted that he had to heal up from a neck injury in which he had surgery on in early 2011 and was urged by Triple H, John Laurinaitis and the WWE office to return as quickly as possible before he had fully healed and that lingering issues contributed to his decision to take time off.
