In an update on Fergal “Prince” Devitt’s new WWE NXT name of Finn Bálor, the name was picked by Devitt himself and is based on classic Irish tales of mythology.

The “Finn” name comes from Fionn mac Cumhaill, a mythical Irish warrior, while Bálor comes from Irish mythology also as Balor was the King of the Formorians, a group of supernatural beings, often described as a giant with a large eye in his forehead that wreaks destruction when opened and has been interpreted as a God or personification of drought and blight.
