While the cruiserweight style of wrestling in the WWE has faded into the darkness over the past couple of years, it appears as if the company will be shining some light on one of their most popular division’s for a new series on the WWE Network when it launches in Fall 2012.
According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, WWE is developing a new series that would exclusively feature Cruiserweight-style wrestler and the company have been compiling a list of talent that they could bring in to work on the series, with the list a crucial part of the development of the potential series.
Johnson notes that the company has reached out to a number of independent wrestlers in recent weeks with the belief that the company is looking for talents in or around the 200lb range and although there is no details of when and how the show would be shot, the company are interested in using the Sunlife University’s gym facilities in Florida, where they have shot several test pilots, as the WWE loved the state of the art look of the building.
It will be interesting to see what talent agree to take up WWE’s offer over the coming months, as one would believe that they would need to debut on WWE television, get noticed from the fans amongst many other subjects before this show goes on-air on the WWE Network later this year.
