In a recent interview with Fightful, Kenny Omega discussed several topics, including his decision to make a return to New Japan Pro Wrestling over a return to All Elite Wrestling.
Omega, who has not wrestled since the December 5th, 2023 episode of AEW Collision, where he faced off against Ethan Page and last appeared for AEW back in May of this year, noted that New Japan Pro Wrestling were willing to facilitate a return for him, and even though he was leery about how he felt, as well as how he would look, the company were just happy to house his return.
Omega, who was involved in a backstage altercation with Gabe Kidd at the NJPW Power Struggle event, seemingly teasing a match for Wrestle Dynasty addressed the possibility of him being cleared for that event stating that he owes New Japan a gigantic thank you, for giving him a big break, and he feels that there is a debt that he has to repay in some way, shape, form or fashion and that if that is by performing at the Tokyo Dome and making his comeback, it is a way to help repay that and do something for their business and he is more than happy to do that.
Omega said that it was a tough answer as to why his return didn’t happen for AEW, and that there is nothing wrong there, but said that everything is flowing like clockwork right now in AEW and that he did not want to be that guy that just shows up and takes a spot away from someone else, and that when there is an opportunity again, he is sure of a return and would love to be back, but right now, he feels that AEW has a good thing going and does not think that they need him, so he will make his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling, for now.
