Paul “Butcher” Vachon, a member of the legendary Vachon pro wrestling family, passed away on February 29th, with the news shared by wrestling historian and pro wrestling journalist Pat Laprade.

Vachon began his in-ring career in 1955 and retired in 1986, working for various promotions during that time including the World Wrestling Federation, National Wrestling Alliance, Big Time Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, Maple Leaf Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling, Championship Wrestling From Florida and more.

Vachon won several titles during his career, including the AWA Midwest Tag Team Championship, the AWA World Tag Team Championships, the Grand Prix Tag Team Championships on two occasions, the NWA Americas Tag Team Championships, the NWA Calgary Canadian Tag Team Championships on two occasions, the NWA Georgia Southern Heavyweight Championship, the NWA Georgia Tag Team Championship on two occasions, the NWA Hawaii Tag Team Championships, the NWA Mid-Atlantic Southern Tag Team Championships, the NWA Southern Tag Team Championships on five occasions, the NWA World Tag Team Championships on two occasions, the Stampede International Tag Team Championships on two occasions and the World Class Texas Tag Team Championships on two occasions.

Vachon was inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010, and was inducted into the Nebraska Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2023.
