Shawn Spears, who was previously known as Tye Dillinger on the WWE NXT brand, made his surprise return to the WWE during tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, being revealed as the mystery person behind the vignettes in recent weeks.
During a segment where Ridge Holland discussed his recent actions, a video appeared on-screen as the lights went out in the arena, with Spears appearing behind Holland, attacking him with a Steel Chair.
Spears announced in February 2019 that he had requested his release from WWE, which was granted several days later. Spears signed with All Elite Wrestling several months later, appearing at the 2019 AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view. Spears announced his departure from AEW at the end of 2023.
