Legendary wrestler Adrian Street, best known for his work with promotions including All Star Wrestling, Championship Wrestling From Florida, NWA Hollywood Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling Association and more passed away earlier this morning at the age of 82, according to a report from the BBC who note that Street recently underwent brain surgery.
Street, noted for his flamboyant style, competed in his last match on June 14th, 2014 and noted at the time that he believed that he had wrestled somewhere between 12,000 to 15,000 matches over the course of his career which began back in 1957.
During his career, Street held the All Star Wrestling World Middleweight Championship on two occasions, the NWA Florida Heavyweight Championship, the NWA Americas Heavyweight Championship, the NWA Americas Tag Team Championships on two occasions, the NWA Wrestle Birmingham Heavyweight Championship, the Mid-South Television Championship, the NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Championship (Northern Division) on four occasions, and the SCW Southwest Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Street also received the Gulf Coast/GAC Honoree Award at the 2005 Cauliflower Alley Club ceremony, an event where Street also proposed to his long-time manager Miss Linda, with the late Don Leo Jonathan as Street’s best man for the wedding.
