In a recent interview with the Chad Dukes Wrestling Show, former WWE Champion, Dave Bautista commented on John Cena’s influence and how his presence has affected the current WWE PG product.

Batista said that he thinks that the WWE did the whole PG direction thing as that works for John Cena’s character, as the little kids love him, because he’s a great character and he’s someone that they can look up to, the girls in the audience love him, as he’s the good looking guy, says all the right things and does all the right things, however the hardcore professional wrestling fans can’t stand him these days as he is Mr. Hokey, Mr. PG and in Batista’s opinion, John Cena killed the hardcore, edgy product in wrestling that the WWE once was.

Batista said it was hard being a heel when wrestling against John Cena, as he was playing the part of the heel, however the wrestling fans were still booing Cena and he really had to go that extra step to be a hated heel when wrestling John Cena. The full interview is available at this link.
