It is with deep sadness to announce that former AWA World Tag Team Champion Red Bastien (real name Rolland Bastein) passed away yesterday aged 81. Bastien who was AWA World Tag Team Champion with greats such as Herculez Cortez and replacement tag partner The Crusher, was the president of the Cauliflower Alley Club from 2001 until 2007. Bastien was reported to be suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease in 2010.

Upon his retirement from the professional wrestling business, Bastien became a trainer and a promoter and convinced legendary wrestlers Steve “Sting” Borden and Jim “The Ultimate Warrior” Hellwig to enter the business after meeting the duo at a Gold’s Gym.
