WWE applied to trademark the terms “WWE Super Showdown” and “WWE Supershow” on May 7th with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

One would have to assume that given the date of the filing that this was when the decision was made to name the company’s return to Saudi Arabia as a Super Showdown event.
