Rob Link, a spokesperson for Knox County Mayor and WWE superstar Glenn Jacobs (aka Kane) noted in a statement released to KnoxNews.com that Jacobs is still planning to perform as scheduled at the November 2nd WWE Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

For those unfamiliar with the story, which has become a very hot topic internationally, there has been heavy scrutiny regarding the WWE’s plans for their show in the wake of the disappearance of Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi (a Saudi Arabian international who resides in the Unted States) in Turkey after he entered a Saudi Arabian consulate.

The consulate state that Khashoggi (who has been vocal in his reporting about the country) left their premises, however CCTV denies this, while Khashoggi’s wife was said to have been waiting outside the building as Khashoggi was picking up papers from the consulate, allowing him to re-marry. Turkish officials meanwhile have stated that they have audio, as well as video evidence that Khashoggi was murdered.

Regarding that story, Link had the following to say on behalf of Jacobs, “Mayor Jacobs won’t speculate on Mr. Khashoggi’s disappearance. However, he and his family are in the Mayor’s thoughts and prayers.”
