In what is seen as a huge move by the WWE prior to the launch of the WWE Network later this year, the company have acquired the Watts’ video library which consists of Mid-South Wrestling, Mid-South Wrestling’s Power Pro Wrestling TV and the Universal Wrestling Federation and features complete house shows from the 1980’s that were filmed and maintained along with TV footage, according to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, who notes that it allows the WWE access to lots of rare footage that they can repurpose.

The library which was owned by Ene Watts, the ex-wife of Bill as part of a divorce settlement, was the largest known video collection not to be owned by the WWE. Johnson notes that there had been numerous meetings and attempts from the WWE to purchase the library but the two sides had not been able to come to an agreement until recently.

Johnson continues to note that there are already discussions internally to do a DVD documentary on the promotion as well as DVD’s on Ted DiBiase, Junkyard Dog and Hacksaw Jim Duggan.
