In an update on the news that broke earlier today that SmackDown Live superstar Big Cass was released from his contract with the company, a report from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer notes that this was not at the request of Cass (real name William Morrissey).

The report notes that while it is unclear currently as to what caused the issue, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon called a meeting prior to today’s SmackDown tapings in Toledo, Ohio and announced the departure of Big Cass from the company.

Cass has been in management’s bad books since going off-script during a segment with a little person last month.
