In speaking to the Des Moines Register Newspaper, 2000 Olympic Gold Medal winner Rulon Gardner, who won the medal for wrestling, noted that he will be meeting with Kurt Angle at the 2012 Olympic trials in Iowa later in the month and that he may follow Angle and take his talents into the professional wrestling world and that he’s talked with professional wrestling companies about potentially joining the business.

Gardner, who was also a contestant on the 11th season of The Biggest Loser, noted that he’s been talking to professional wrestling companies about joining and that he’s been throwing it out a lot lately, noting that one of his motivators about joining the top companies, is getting people to understand how good that amateur wrestling really is.

Gardner has not entered the professional wrestling world, however he has tried his hand at Mixed Martial Arts when he competed on the December 31st, 2004 PRIDE Fighting Championship event defeating Hidehiko Yoshida and never took up the option of MMA any further, thus going 1-0 in his career.
